Though no one could be sure when or how, but the nylon outerwear that appeared as a sideline staple has captured the imagination of weekend warriors since the days of Vince Lombardi (though the famous football coach never wore one). And the like resurgence of varsity jackets in the last 2 years, this spring will see the re-introduction of athletic-inspired outerwear of another kind – the humble coach jacket. As part of its Spring 2010 Collection, Japanese apparel label BAPE (aka A Bathing Ape), will include its own version of the classic. Constructed in weather-resistant nylon shell in black, olive, or burgundy, the 6-button outerwear unfurled at 3/4 length. Each included a lower drawstring and elastic cuffs to seal off cool draft from creeping in. A large “B” insignia imprinted on the back, with 2 sewn-on patches around the chest and left arm. All 3 are now available at BAPE retail locations across Japan and its BAPE LANDofficial online store in ZOZOTOWN.
