World Basketball Festival – Air Force 1: Anatomy Of An Urban Legend Premiere At Apollo Theater

World Basketball Festival Air Force 1: Anatomy Of An Urban Legend Premiere At Apollo Theater | Event Recap

5 years after Just For Kicks, the definitive documentary about the raise of sneakers to the cornerstone of pop culture today, film maker Thibaut de Longeville returns to the big screen with Air Force 1: Anatomy Of An Urban Legend, a fitting tribute to the most popular sneaker of all time. From its unremarkable birth at the hands of Nike designer Bruce Kilgore, Air Force 1 found its advocate almost immediately in the 6-foot 10 form of Moses Malone, whose “Fo, Fo, Fo” bravado immortalized the Philadelphia 76ers and his Air Force 1. When most designs were phased out after a few years in favor of new ones, the film followed the Air Force 1’s unlikely path, where its continue popularity on the streets of New York City, Baltimore, and Philadelphia led it to over shadow its successor, Air Force 2, and gained a continuous production 3 decades later.
