Once an icon of urban blight, the Polo Ground Housing Projects in Harlem gained notoriety when it’s playground became the Holcombe Rucker Basketball Courts, in honor of the Harlem school teacher who altered the landscape of street ball forever. A real-world training ground, Rucker Park honed skills and talents of numerous players, like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Vince Carter, and etc…both in the professional circuit and local amateur leagues. Tomorrow, the park will shaped the skill sets of a different sort when Nike Skateboard rider Paul Rodriguez, Eric Koston, Shane O’Neill, Theotis Beasley, and the rest of Nike SB team stop by for a special occasion. Think of it as a follow-up to the World Basketball Festival, which also took place at the park this past weekend. Join the hundreds that will gather tomorrow, with event starts at 4 pm and live music supply by DJ Parler. Rumor has it Nike SB will premiere on site its newest mini-movie featuring P-Rod with narration by Nas.
