The 2014 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive made it’s global debut today at the 2013 New York Auto Show, introducing the world of compact battery-electric vehicles to luxury buyers. Scheduled to launch in early 2014 in the U.S., this five passenger B-Class Electric Drive is equipped with a 100kW electric motor and a lithium-ion pack expected to deliver more than 134 horsepower, a top speed of 100mph, and an approximate range of 115 miles. The B-Class can be recharged at a standard domestic power outlet, taking 2 hours of plugged-in time to travel up to about 60 miles, but while it’s plugged in the owner can configure and check on its status via the internet. Inside, the B-Class features an MP3-capable CD player with a USB connection to a 14.7cm color multimedia system with Becker MAP PILOT navigation as well as an accident warning radar included. MB hasn’t released pricing details, but we’ll know soon enough once these begin to roll onto showroom floors early next year. Until then check out the preview shots and the inner mechanics of the B-Class below.
