At the height of the 1990s’ trading cards phenomenon, Nike and Jordan Brand regularly pumped out their own branded sports cards, like the iconic ones featuring Mars Blackmon and Michael Jordan. As a miniature version of History of Air, each featured a brief run-down of the model’s design story, Michael Jordan’s accomplishments during that particular year, and a photo of His Airness wearing the sneakers on the card’s front side. While Jordan Brand put a stop to the practice around 2009-2010, it looks like it will be bring the tradition back, at least for the upcoming Air Jordan VIII Retro “Bugs” release this month. If this trend going forward, expect more Jordan Retro trading cards to come later this year.
