Wu-Tang Clan – Protect Ya Neck (Live at Coachella 2013)

Now in its third decade of existence, the Wu-Tang Clan has no need to remind us that its collection of legendary MCs is nothing to f**k with, however from time to time the Staten Island natives converge on one stage to show the industry why they are still regarded as one of the greatest assembly of wordsmiths the world has ever seen. Fitting enough, a rare sighting of the band was made this past weekend at one of the biggest music festivals of the year, Coachella in California. Performing towards the tail end on the final night, the Wu was pitted against the back-to-back shows of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers on the main stage. Nevertheless, Raekwon The Chef proclaimed to the audience, “No disrespect to none of ya’ll, but we came to steal this s**t tonight.” And so they did. With an orchestra backing their vocals and the band’s classic black and yellow colorway swarming the stage, Wu-Tang graced the festival for well over an hour performing hits from Enter The 36 Chambers and the various members’ solo works. Check out the footage above of the killer bees murkin’ their famous single “Protect Ya Neck.”
