ROLLS-ROYCE GHOST ALPINE TRIAL CENTENARY EDITION

Rolls-Royce is giving everyone a sneak peak at what should be a huge draw at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show: their Ghost Alpine Trail Centenary Edition. Not too many brands can boast an achievement like this – especially in the car business – but Rolls-Royce has hit the mark, passing a full century since the luxury British carmaker’s first entry into the 1913 Alpine Trail. Today’s version draws inspiration and design cues from the the Silver Ghost driven by James Radley, which took part in (and won) the historic 1,820 mile long event, complete with an etching of a graphic showing the topography of the mountain range into the veneer on the front fascia and rear table inlays as well as a perfectly matched “baby blue” exterior paint. Other details include a black grille and wheels, clocks inside that display the stages of the event and the timings, and a headliner that matches the hood of Radley’s original. Along with the roll-out of the Centenary Edition Ghost Alpine, Rolls-Royce also plans on participating in a  re-enactment of the event beginning in Vienna on June 14, proving that despite its luxury looks, this car can still handle every corner of the near impassable mountain terrain.
