In the highly anticipated third installment in the Iron Man film franchise, Tony Stark gets around town in a machine almost as fine-tuned as his Iron Man armor — namely, the Audi R8 e-tron. Powered by an electric motor mounted on each wheel, the R8 e-tron first debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, followed by years of speculation whether the vehicle would ever see production. Its high-profile appearance in Iron Man 3 is just one indication that the development program of the all-electric coupe has resumed in earnest, with production models “in limited numbers” expected to roll off factory floors in the near future.
