As recently as the 1970s, Italian motorcycle maker MV AGUSTA had one of the world’s most successful racing team. Unfortunately, it couldn’t react quick enough to the changing market at the time and by the 80s, it closed the remnants of its racing program and ceased production. Forgotten by a generation of motorcycle enthusiasts, the company was resurrected in 1991 by new owner Cagiva. But it was the introduction of the then-new F4 model that really propelled the MV AGUSTA name into a maelstrom of interests worldwide. Now, some 22 years since its revival, MV AGUSTA is placing a big bet on the F4 once again, this time completely re-tuned for 2013.

Staying true to its design DNA, originally created by the famed motorcycle designer Massimo Tamburini, whose works also include the Ducati 916 Series, engineers at MV AGUSTA added a anti-lock brake system from Bosch, along with a new Brembo Monobloc M50 caliper. Featuring a Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System (MVICS), coupled with ride-by-wire throttle control and traction control, the F4 is as technically advance as its super car countparts. Yet, it is the only one to let you feel “one with the road” thanks to the addition of electronically controlled suspension by Öhlins.

Comes in three variations: F4, F4 R, and F4 RR, all powered by the same liquid cooled inline four cylinder engine but with various specs and configurations. Thus, the F4 and F4 R produce around 195 horsepower while the F4 RR is capable of 200.8 horsepower. In conjunction to performance, the suggested price varies as well, with F4 starting at €16,990 EUR ($22,370 USD), F4 R at €19,290 EUR ($25,400 USD), and finally F4 RR at €24,290 EUR ($32,000 USD).
