Fans clamoring for the next installment in the Halo franchise have received an unexpected answer from 343 Industries, with the announcement that Halo: Spartan Assault is made exclusively for Windows Phone and touch-enabled Windows 8 devices. The top-down, twin-stick shooter allows for customized battlefield roles through various loadouts, while familiar vehicles like the Wraith and Warthog are available for mobile mayhem. The story, meanwhile, features the return of Sarah Palmer, the UNSC Commander and veteran of the Human-Covenant War, and the origins of the Spartan Ops program. The game is formatted as a training tool for prospective soldiers, featuring significant Covenant conflicts from the past.
