Written by controversial American novelist, screenwriter, and self-proclaimed satirist Bret Easton Ellis – on Less Than Zero and American Psycho fame – director Paul Schrader’s neo-noir erotic thriller The Canyons is on tap for a release next month. Starring Lindsay Lohan alongside pornographic actor James Deen – making his non-porn acting debut – the Los Angeles-set film sees Deen as a calculating movie producer while Lohan appears as his philandering actress girlfriend. Meant as a satirical exploration of the dark side of human nature and also starring Nolan Gerard Funk, Amanda Brooks, Tenille Houston, and Gus Van Sant, The Canyons – which was previously rejected by both the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW – is due for a limited theatrical release and VOD premiere August 2.
