Built with attractive retro styling, the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GX7 is the brand’s newest Micro Four Thirds camera, featuring a completely redesigned 16.00-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor that achieves both higher resolution and higher sensitivity image recording with less noise than its predecessor, the DMC-GX1. The GX7 contains features common in the best mirrorless cameras in this class, including customizable focus peaking and a built-in electronic view finder, one that’s vertically-tiltable and boasts a 2,764k-dot resolution. There’s also in-body image stabilization and a pop-up flash. A swift shutter is capable of firing shots at 1/8000th of a second, along with an autofocus system which can zero in on a focal point all the way down to -4EV — lighting comparable to a moonlit night. If video is your concern, there’s full HD video recording at up to 60 fps in AVCHD Progressive or MP4, with stereo microphones capturing the audio. Autofocus, Touch AF and Tracking AF can all be used while shooting video. Finally, built-in WiFi and NFC allow for the likes of remote viewfinder apps and sharing media. Look for the Panasonic GX7 to ship in September, available as a body only for $1,000 USD, or with a 14-42mm zoom for $1,100 USD.
