True to the old gunslinger’s motto “Have Gun. Will Travel,” basketball player Drederick Irving moved half way across the globe for the opportunity to play on the Australian National Basketball League, a reason why his son Kyrie Irving now holds an Australian citizenship.
Since his debut as the 2011 NBA Draft‘s number 1 pick, the younger Irving been on a tear in the professional circuit, winning the 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year title and a spot on the 2013 NBA All-Star Game. What is more impressive, however, is Irving’s commitment to the game and his team, Cleveland Cavaliers, despite of a multitude of injuries. That commitment continues onward this season as Nike Basketball unveiled the Nike Hyperdunk 2013 Kyrie Irving “Australia” P.E.
In subtle tone of metallic blue-teal colorway and volt design accents, this Player’s Edition highlights Irving’s time in Melbourne with references to the Australia’s National Basketball Team colors of green and yellow. You will also find an abstract interpretation of waves and ocean throughout the shoe’s tongue and inner lining, both reflecting his travel oversea as well as Melbourne’s close proximity to the ocean.
First launched in 2008 and updated by Nike footwear designer Peter Fogg, the Nike Hyperdunk 2013 retains the three transformative technologies found on the original – Dynamic Nike Flywire, Hyperfuse construction and Lunarlon cushioning. Yet, the new materials used and the few refinements made equate to something even better than the original.
You will find the Nike Hyperdunk 2013 – Kyrie Irving “Australia” P.E. available now through Nike and Nike Basketball retail locations worldwide.
