If the likes of Samsung, Google, and Apple each want to proclaim themselves as the “first maker of smartwatches,” they might have to re-think that title and settle for second place instead. That’s becauseCasio G-Shock already beat them to the punch by two years. From the debut of its first working prototype during the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, G-Shock‘s Smartwatches have been widely available through its retailers worldwide. Certainly, 2013 is no different, as it launches the GB-5600B, a third-generation design featuring Bluetooth v4.0 wireless connectivity.
One other notable introduction for October 2013 is the MTG-S1000D-1AJF model, the first design from the so-called “MT-G Metal Twisted” series. Introduced during the Casio G-Shock 30th Anniversary “Shock The World 2013″ event back in August, the MTG-S1000D-1AJF and subsequent editions from the series will all be part of Casio’s push into the coveted premium timepiece market.
The Casio G-Shock lineup for October 2013 will be available at select retailers in Japan in the weeks ahead, eventually hitting other distributors worldwide during the coming months.
