Last Friday, Atlanta-based boutique Wish along with dozens of Air Jordan fans welcomed Jason Mayden, Senior Global Design Director and Gemo Wong, Director of Energy Footwear to its “A Night With Jordan Brand” event, during which the two special guests talked about the creative process within the house His Airness built. More than just sneakers and styles, Mayden and Wong also touched upon the career path they took, life lessons learned, and inspirations they came to known. Among a sea of rare sneakers curated by Joseph Privitte of Tennessee, rapper Killer Mike took to the stage for a live performance while the two designers went one-on-one with aspired sneaker designers to give design pointers. Ten raffle winners also got the opportunity to preview upcoming Jordan Brand designs, with two selected to create their very own NIKEiD shoes.
As a parting gift, the two presented the staff at Wish an one-of-the-kind Air Jordan 3 Retro “Doernbecher.” On a pair of much sought after 2010 Air Jordan 3 Retro “Doernbecher” by Cole Johanson, Jordan Brand designers laser-etched Wish’s logo on exterior heel counters. A set of custom wooden lace locks complement the look, with right one featuring Wish Atlanta‘s logo once again, and the left one in the likeness of head honcho Tinker Hatfield. Finally, they went a step further and created a custom satin dust bag in white for the pair.
