John Robinson and PVD bring their Hip-Hip and Jazz vibes to The Brooklyn Museum

One of the real perks of living on the Planet of Brooklyn is First Saturdays.  The Brooklyn Museum opens its doors every first Saturday of the month to all of Brooklyn and the world.  All are welcome to enjoy engaging and eclectic free art and entertainment programs from 5 to 11 p.m.  Target First Saturdays at The Brooklyn Museum jumps off this weekend and Brooklyn Bodega is proud to be partnering with one of Brooklyn’s premier cultural institutions.
John Robinson and PVD bring their Hip-Hip and Jazz vibes to The Brooklyn Museum

Brooklyn Bodega and The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival have the distinct honor of partnering with the Museum for the finale this month. We will be closing the day with the fantastic John Robinson and PVD performing tracks from their latest album ‘Urban Vintage’.

John Robinson is quite simply one of Hip-Hop’s gems.  While he is known to many these days by his proper name, old schoolers may remember him as Lil Sci, the front man for the group Scienz Of Life. John and ID 4 Windz were a cornerstone of Bobbito Garcia’s Fondle ‘Em Records label and an integral part of the late 90’s early 2000’s Golden Era of Hip-Hop.

John also is a close compatriot of the great MF DOOM.  Many first heard his raspy voice alongside the Super Villain. He has toured the world extensively with his beautiful mix of jazz and Hip-Hop. He has fronted a big band, recorded a tribute album to jazz great Lee Morgan, rocked with Flying Lotus as well as a veritable who’s who of Hip-Hop producers.

John’s latest project with producer PVD stays true to JR’s ‘Hip-Hop paying homage to jazz’ credo. Their album ‘Modern Vintage’ is a healthy alternative to the suffocating 1% rap you hear incessantly on the radio. Organic, fresh, boom bap banging all balanced with JR’s powerful verses.

Whether you are a fan of the golden days of Fat Beats, WKCR, Fondle ‘Em and Scienz of Life, a lover of jazz or one of the thousands John Robinson has touched with his music over the years we welcome you out to The Brooklyn Museum Saturday, November 1st for Target First Saturdays.
