Later this month, at the “BET Experience at L.A. Live, Presented by Coca-Cola,” Ice Cube will be reuniting with pals MC Ren and DJ Yella to perform a selection of N.W.A songs. In speaking with Rolling Stone, Cube revealed that he hadn’t been on stage with Ren since 2000 and Yella back in ’89.
“It’s just gonna be a great night,” Ice Cube tells Rolling Stone. “We’re gonna be there with Snoop, Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q. It’s just gonna be one of those ‘I wish I were there in L.A. nights.’ And we’re gonna rock that shit, no problem.”
Other performers slated to appear at the BET event include Nicki Minaj, The Roots, Kevin Hart and more. For Cube, however, the reunion acts as a precursor to the upcoming N.W.A biopic,Straight Outta Compton, that will be launching on August 14. Ice Cube worked alongside Dr. Dre and Eazy-E’s widow Tomica Woods-Wright to produce the movie.
