Banksy is believed to be staging a secret pop-up exhibition called “Dismaland” at the abandoned, 10,200-square-foot Tropicana site in Weston-super-Mare. The graffiti artist’s latest attraction appears to be a sinister twist on Disneyland and is expected to be made public later this week. Banksy has allegedly kept it under wraps by pretending the site was being used as a film location. Photographs from the site have included sculptures of a petrol tanker bent into an “S” shape, a derelict pink castle and a metal sculpture of a horse along with other artwork.
Rumors of the attraction began after Holly Cushing, who is believed to be Banksy’s manager, was reportedly spotted at the site earlier this month. Also, Financial records show she set up a limited company called Dismaland Ltd with Simon Durban — who is thought to be Banksy’s accountant — on May 1.
[UPDATE] Birmingham resident Francis Clarke managed to capture a few stencils around the park’s perimeter as seen below.
