The MINI has come a long way since it was first introduced as a very compact option for those living in the city. Over the years, especially after BMW took over the brand, the MINI continued to evolve to appeal to more than just those looking for a bit of speed in the urban jungle. Now, today, we see the latest evolution in the form of a the 2016 MINI Convertible, which is just hitting the streets. This new open-top MINI is 98mm longer than its predecessor and 44mm wider, but with an electric retractable soft top instead of the usual roof and three-door hatchback. Just like the several optional exterior paint schemes – like Caribbean Aqua and Melting Silver – there are a few options when it comes to the engines, including the usual 3-cylinder, 1.5-liter gas engine at 136HP along with a diesel with 116 HP and the S version with a 2.0-liter turbo producing 192HP. Inside, because of the larger footprint, there’s more space for you, your friends, and your gear. Check out the new 2016 MINI Convertible below and look for this drop-back version to hit the streets later this year.
