Levi’s and Google Team up

During last year’s Google I/O conference, the tech giant announced Project Jacquard in association with Levi’s. This was a smart fabric that could do things like answer calls. Well, during this year’s I/O conference, the final product was unveiled.

The denim jacket will feature built-in smart fabric sensors which will allow wearers to control their music, answer a call or respond to a message. Intended for cyclists who will have their hands tied up, the jacket is a unique piece that can also be washed. The jacket will work with Google apps like Google Maps and messaging, as well as third-party programs such as Spotify and Strava. It’s going into beta this fall, with a consumer release next spring, but no word yet on cost. Google hopes to expand beyond cycling, and bring smart fabric into other clothing lines.Levi's and Google Team up
