Having set the stage by chronicling the evolution of the Air Max 1, Nike now takes the wraps off the Air Max 1 Ultra Flyknit. Billed as the lightest Air Max 1 ever, the shoe was developed by lead designer Ben Yun through a number of different prototypes, ultimately resulting in a build that uses Flyknit construction in the toe and tongue for superior ventilation, fortified with closed construction at the heel to add support. A no-sew rand wrapped above the midsole connects to the original design DNA of the original, while updated, lightweight ultra tooling adds to the shoe’s comfort. The Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Flyknit launches in men’s and women’s sizes today via Nike’s SNKRS. The retail launch follows on July 28.
