Alexander Wang’s 2016 Fall/Winter Collection

Usually renowned for creating more streamlined designs, Alexander Wang steps a bit outside the box with a collection inspired by the early days of hip-hop. The baggy trousers, graphic-heavy tops, and oversized coats are meant to evoke the spirit of individuality that’s centered within the genre and culture. Phrases like “Not for Drugs,” “Best High You Can Buy,” “Strict” and “Girls Girls Girls” are evident throughout the pieces through patches, prints and embroideries to further the idea of making a bold statement. The styling of this lookbook is also well-executed as it bravely interprets the fashion of early hip-hop by highlighting the camouflage-printed trousers and the graphic hoodies. In addition, the bags and footwear will be exciting items to keep an eye out for when the collection finally releases.
