As previously reported, RZA has been tasked to live-score classic martial arts film The 36th Chamber of Shaolin at LA’s Beyond Fest. Accordingly, here we get our first look at the project, courtesy of Alamo Drafthouse.
In addition to providing us with a glimpse of what to expect, the teaser also reveals that the live-scoring will not only take place at Beyond Fest (October 12), but it is also scheduled to appear in Austin, Texas at the Stateside Theatre at the Paramount on September 29.
From opening to closing credits, RZA will be live-scoring the iconic film with “over 40 instrumental tracks, beats and vocals individually crafted and placed to amplify the narrative and electrifying action of Kar-leung’s enduring classic.” The visual itself will in turn take cues from how RZA saw it when he was growing up, all while featuring the original English dialog.
Tickets for the RZA-scored The 36th Chamber of Shaolin are on sale now.
