colette Is Set to Close Its Doors

After 20 long years, French concept store colette will be closing its doors come this December. The Parisian house of cool made the announcement public only an hour ago, placing a post to its personal Instagram with the years “1997″ and “2017″ encircled. On the other hand, colette staff were informed of the decision on Wednesday morning, as told by Sarah Andelman, creative director and purchasing manager.

colette was founded by Colette Roussaux, Andelman’s mother, and has become a place for fashion lovers to purchase the hottest items and to be seen at the store’s many events. Currently the three-storey, 8,000-square-foot space is in talks with Saint Laurent to take over the location. Read colette’s statement below:

“As all good things must come to an end, after 20 wonderful years, colette should be closing its doors on December 20 of this year. Colette Roussaux has reached the time when she would like to take her time; and Colette cannot exist without Colette.

Until our last day, nothing will change. colette will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings, also available on our website

We would be proud to have a brand with such a history, with whom we have frequently collaborated, taking over our address. We are happy of the serious interest expressed by Saint Laurent in this project, and it could also represent a very good opportunity for our employees.”
